CAREER OPPORTUNITY - MANAGER, FINANCE

St. Vincent Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC) is recruiting an experienced professional to provide leadership to its Finance Department. The position holder reports to the Chief Executive Officer, and periodically reports to the Board of Directors on the company’s financial operations and short-term projections. The holder of the position supports the Chief Executive Officer in providing strategic leadership and effective financial management to ensure that the organisation fulfils its mission.

 

In collaboration with the Company’s Senior Management, the Manager Finance oversees the long-term financial projections of the company and develops financial strategies for the execution of these plans. The position also has the overarching leadership responsibility for the procurement and inventory management function which provides critical stock items for the company’s capital and operational programmes.

 

The position of Manager Finance requires someone with considerable experience in Accounting, Financial Management and General Management. Applicants should possess:

 A professional accounting qualification (e.g.: ACCA, CPA or equivalent)

 At least 10 years’ post-certification experience to include no less than five years of auditing

 A minimum of 5 years at a senior management level in a comparable organisation

 Strong quantitative and analytical skills; with an ability to perform complex analysis

 Excellent communication and presentation skills

 Demonstrated leadership that fosters accountability, continuous improvement and a culture of safety.

 

The principal responsibilities of the position will include:

Strategic Financial Leadership – managing the utility’s financial activities, including capital and operating budgets, accounting, forecasting, and reporting to support corporate strategy and decision making.

 Forecasting and Modelling – developing and maintaining logical, flexible forecasting models that produce a full set of financial statement using existing tools and software.

 Decision Support and Performance Insights – performing financial and operational calculations based on key business drivers to inform timely, data-driven decisions.

 Continuous Improvement – driving ongoing enhancement of financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, budgeting and planning processes. \

 Procurement and Inventory Oversight – providing executive leadership for procurement and inventory to ensure prudent use of resources and availability of critical materials.

 Projects and Special Initiatives – initiating and overseeing projects that support business functions, including rate studies, budget research, procurement planning, consultant management, resource utilisation, and emergency response coordination.

 People Leadership – executing supervisory responsibilities with sound judgement; setting clear goals, defining responsibilities, building capacity, giving performance feedback, recognising contributions and promoting training and development.
